Taking Sin Too Lightly

Staged photo of Mark Prostrate

Sobering Look at Sin

The 30 minute audio below came from Pinehurst Baptist Church in November 2017.

It is sobering and so I will merely give you the link, and below it, a few notes. Please note that when it gets a bit difficult to hear, it is because I am on my belly talking to God. This I did in front of the congregation, and would do it again if given the chance.

Psalm 51:17

The sacrifice pleasing to God is a broken spirit. God, You will not despise a broken and humbled heart.

What’s In Your Mind When Sin is in Your Heart?

Sin’s Impact on Your Prayer Life

Deuteronomy 3:26

But the LORD was angry with me on account of you and would not listen to me. The LORD said to me, ‘That’s enough! Do not speak to Me again about this matter.

Isaiah 1:15

When you lift up your hands in prayer, I will refuse to look at you; even if you offer countless prayers, I will not listen. . .

Isaiah 59:2

But your iniquities have built barriers between you and your God, and your sins have made Him hide His face from you so that He does not listen.

Lamentations 3:41-44

41 Let us lift up our hearts and our hands
to God in heaven:
42 We have sinned and rebelled;
You have not forgiven.

ס Samek
43 You have covered Yourself in anger and pursued us;
You have killed without compassion.
44 You have covered Yourself with a cloud
so that no prayer can pass through.

Proverbs 28:9

Anyone who turns his ear away from hearing the law– even his prayer is detestable.

Cry Out for Mercy

By Praying Thru Psalm 38, then

Remember Psalm 51:17 . . .

So You Can Get to Psalm 118:19

Blessings my friends,

Mark S Mirza Signature

PS. Forgive me for “staging” the featured image above, but I searched and searched the internet and couldn’t find anyone prostrating themselves that looked remotely like they might be Baptist.

Seriously, that is where I prostrate myself before the Lord, the only thing is there is normally a  cocktail table in the center of the rug, but again, this is ONLY A VISUAL.

Thank you for understanding.

Prayer Basics-Wrestling With God

Featured Photo of YouTube video on Wrestling with God

Wrestle and Get Pinned

If you think of wrestling in human terms, you’ve gotta expect God to pin you to the mat, right?

Surely that isn’t “Wrestling With God,” is it?

Compare two Biblical wrestlers. One did good, the other did not.

In my short video I’ll talk about Jacob wrestling all night and someone else who wrestled at night.

CLICK BELOW and watch the short video on WRESTLING WITH GOD.

The Video’s Points:

Had you ever considered that Jesus in the Garden of Gethsemane was an example of “Wrestling with God?”

  1. Two biblical wrestlers.
  2. One was unchanged, the Other was greatly changed.
  3. How did Jesus change?
  4. He submitted to God.

It ain’t rocket science, is it?

In my book below is ANOTHER WRESTLER, Epaphras by name (from Colossians 4:12). He trains his nephew, Thales, one of the prayer heroes.

Resource – The Pray-ers

  • 3 Historic Eras, on

Prayer Basics-Intimacy With God

Featured Photo of YouTube video on Intimacy with God

Does Intimacy With God Make Sense?

In Dr. Charles F. Stanley’s Life Principles Bible, his very first life principle is:

  • Intimacy with God, His highest priority for your life, determines the impact of your life.

In my short video I’ll talk about hindrances to intimacy, and give you a vivid picture of why you can trust Him.

CLICK BELOW and watch the short video on INTIMACY WITH GOD.

The Video’s Points:

Sometimes the Pictures YouTube grabs are just embarrassing!

  1. After 50 years of ministry, Dr. Charles F. Stanley makes “Intimacy with God,” preeminent.
  2. People are lukewarm because they do not communicate with Him.
  3. And they do not communicate with Him because they do not trust Him.

Did you like that visual?

Thousands of angels are worshiping God, calling out His name, and what does he do?

He inclines His ear to listen TO YOU!

How amazing is that?

Prayer Basics-Knowing God’s Will

Featured Photo of YouTube video on Knowing God's Will

Can You Know God’s Will?

If 1 John 5:14-15 are correct, if the Holy Spirit didn’t make a mistake thru John, then yes, not only can you know God’s will, but that knowledge will allow you to pray:

  1. With a CONFIDENCE unlike any you have ever had, and;
  2. You will know that you ALREADY have the petition you are asking of Him.

In my short video I’ll talk about how you can know God’s will.

CLICK BELOW and watch the short video on KNOWING GOD’S WILL.

The Video’s Points:

  1. Everyone can know God’s will.
  2. Ephesians 5:17 and Romans 12:2 are only A FEW of the many verses that make clear we are to know God’s will.
  3. Seek Him and He will let Himself be found.

There is a key point that I did not make in the video and should have. Let me say it this way:

If you hear from the spirit, and what you heard contradicts the Word of God, you DID NOT hear from the Holy Spirit.

Seek God for His will, He wants you to know it!

After all, the Holy Spirit didn’t make a mistake!

Or did He?

Prayer Basics-Fasting

Featured Photo of YouTube video on fasting

Donuts and a Grumpy Deacon

I don’t want to overwhelm you with the theology of fasting. It is sufficient to remind you that scripture says, “When You Fast, NOT If You Fast.”

In my short video I’ll talk about 2 dozen donuts, a grumpy deacon and sensitivity to the Holy Spirit.

CLICK BELOW for the short video on FASTING.

The Video’s Points:

  1. Everyone can fast (confirm with your doctor first).
  2. Consider your length of fast.
  3. Watch as you become more sensitized to the Holy Spirit.

Not all of you are comfortable fasting. That’s completely understandable.

I remember a pastor telling me he couldn’t fast when I invited him to a “fasting-luncheon.”

He responded, “Oh, no, no, no. I have to eat!” And then he looked at the words that snuck out of his mouth and spent the next 30 minutes trying to reel them back in.

Too late! He’s a sermon illustration!

Try fasting, you’ll like it. You will, I promise.

Resource – Power From On High

Cover of Power From On high

For the rest of this month (February 2018), our this book is on sale.

This, our latest book, was originally published in 1928 for the 200th anniversary of the Moravian Revival. In 1727, the Moravian, Count Zinzendorf, started a prayer meeting that lasted 100 years.

We found this 90-year-old book, filled with great history of the Moravians and added encouraging, and challenging questions to turn it into an uplifting 7 week study.

Normally $14.99, this book is on sale for $8.00 this month. To purchase, click on the book cover above, or CLICK HERE.

My Dear Pray-ers,

I’m beginning a new series of E-Letters that we’ll call Prayer Basics.

This series of E-Letters will be split up with other items, like a special Valentines Day E-Letter that I’m working on, and other E-Letters as appropriate.

This first Prayer Basics E-Letter will touch on:

  1. Doubt
  2. Worry
  3. Thanks, and
  4. Praying with your Bible open.

WORRY
Isn’t it easy to worry? There was a time when I was a GREAT worrier. This 3 minute video and short post will show you that you can deal with worry, no matter how much you worry. CLICK HERE or the icon below.

THANKS
We all know the verse about giving thanks “IN every situation” but did you know that there is a passage that says we’re to thank God “FOR every situation,” also? Praise the Lord that the video is under 2 minutes. CLICK HERE or the icon below.

OPEN BIBLE
And just for fun (and entertainment) I have added this video from a friend of mine singing a song of what happens when you allow “Dust on the Bible.” CLICK HERE or the icon below.
