A Threefold Cord

100 Days of Prayer - Preparing the Heart

Job 11:13 – “If only you would prepare your heart and lift up your hands to him in prayer!”

PRECEPT (Principle)

Psalm 146:3

Put not your trust in princes, nor in the son of man, in whom there is no help.

PROMISE (From God)

Psalm 9:9

The Lord will be a refuge for the oppressed, a refuge in times of trouble.

PRAYER (To God)

Psalm 17:8

Keep me as the apple of the eye, hide me under the shadow of thy wings.

Turning The Above Verses for Today into a Prayer

Father, as judgment begins in the church, it is easy for me to be critical of our government and misplace my trust, by thinking that, “this person or that person” will do a better job.

You are my refuge, Father, and I am the apple of your eye.  In the midst of difficulties, you are the one who keeps me sheltered under your wings

Praise you, Father, and forgive me, for misplaced trust…

NOTE: The term “son of man” sometimes only means “men” as in “regular men” and not Jesus the Son of God.

This is an example of how to take a Precept, Promise and Prayer and re-write them back to the Lord as a prayer.  Try it yourself.
