God Smacked Me

God Smacked Me

Two days ago I posted the following:
https://markmirza.com/i-aint-praying-with-old-geezers-no-more/
… and I think God Smacked Me, for my irreverence.

Today, I stopped at Britt David Baptist in Columbus. A good friend of mine, Tim Jones is the pastor there.

Tim and I pray every week and have been for over a year.

I tell folks about Tim’s church this way. . .
–As Southern Baptists we regularly do something for 4 weeks, once in awhile for 8 weeks, and if we’re REALLY HOLY, we’ll do it for 12 weeks.
–Well, over 2 years ago, Tim started a daily prayer meeting. It continues today, with very few interruptions.
–So, today I joined them, and that’s where God Smacked Me. He made it clear that there are LOTS OF OLD. . . Older Folks I can pray with.

Let me tell your what I told Pastor Tim. “That was sweet, Tim. Really sweet.”

And it was!

Successful-ongoing-prayer is not oxymoronic.

When we were done praying, one of the men assured us up in song. Speaking of men, did you notice how many attended?

And it shall come to pass afterward, that I will pour out My Spirit upon all flesh.

NOTE: Lord, guard our graduate’s lives, that though they are given opportunities to be entertained in the dark places of the earth, cause a mature saint to come alongside them, reminding our graduates where You want them to focus.

I AINT PRAYING WITH OLD GEEZERS NO MORE

The video below is about 5 minutes long which is 3 minutes longer than I like to do. But trust me, if you’ve never prayed with a young person, or if you have and forgot how great it is to do, just listen to the entire video.

And then decide, like me, that you AIN’T PRAYING WITH OLD GEEZERS NO MORE!

But if you do make that commitment, please make the other commitment too, which is to pray with the young people in your church.

If you think I was a little too irrevent, I can assure you that 2 days later, God Smacked Me. It’s a short post, read it!

TURNING THE ABOVE DAY’S VERSES INTO A PRAYER

Father, You remember how we are made. You know our weaknesses, and You give us mercy. Thank You Father for the writers of these verses, putting together passages that we would never consider. You Lord, rejoice and weep with us, because You know us. Thank You Father.

NOTE: Are you tempted by believing that “you can do anything, if you put your mind to it” and so you misinform others? When Paul talked about strength, while he was weak, the idea is dependence, upon himself? No, upon God!
