PrayerCon Scripture

Familiarize Yourself with the Passage Below.

Friday the 17th will be here soon.

Personally, I’m really looking forward to all of you meeting each other.

Psalm 46 (HCSB, with additions)

Psalm 46:1-3 (God comforts by His strength)
Psalm 46:4-7 (God comforts by His presence)
Psalm 46:8-11 (God comforts by His works)

Psalm 46 (HCSB)
God Our Refuge
For the choir director. A song of the sons of Korah.
According to Alamoth.

God is our refuge and strength,
a helper who is always found
in times of trouble.

Therefore we will not be afraid,
though the earth trembles
and the mountains topple
into the depths of the seas,

though its waters roar and foam
and the mountains quake
with its turmoil.

There is a river—
its streams delight the city of God,
the holy dwelling place of the Most High.

God is within her; she will not be toppled.
God will help her when the morning dawns.

Nations rage, kingdoms topple;
the earth melts when He lifts His voice.

The Lord of Hosts is with us;
the God of Jacob is our stronghold.

Come, see the works of the Lord,
who brings devastation on the earth.

He makes wars cease throughout the earth.
He shatters bows and cuts spears to pieces;
He burns up the chariots.

“Stop your fighting— (HCSB)
“Cease striving— (NASB1995)
“Be Still— (KJV)
and know that I am God,
exalted among the nations, exalted on the earth.”

Yahweh of Hosts is with us;
the God of Jacob is our stronghold.

To Martin Luther this was a COMFORTING Psalm. His hymn: “A Mighty Fortress Is Our God” is a paraphrase of Psalm 46.

Day of Prayer for Iran

Day of Prayer for Iran

Many of you know that my roots go back to both Mexico and Iran, and that my great-grandmother was martyred for her faith in Iran, which I modernized and included in my novel, Divided Nation.

So, when Elam Ministries asked us to pray for Iran, on a day I was speaking in Columbus, Georgia, I signed on.

Below is a short video where I took the entire congregation into prayer.

Go to Elam’s website for additional prayer prompts and ideas. They do a brilliant job.

I still have a pastor’s photograph whom I pray for. I have no idea his name, or if he’s even alive, but it has been my honor, over the years, to lift up him and those he’s influenced.

One Unique Voter's Guide Our Free Gift to You

1656 England was very divided, not unlike the USA, today.

William Gurnall’s sermon is in 2 parts. Part 1 was the sermon application of Isaiah 1, but part 2 was his Biblically insightful instructions to voters.

This was brilliant in 1656, it is a must read today. . .

Part 1

The Sermon

William Gurnall, of whom very little is known (except his 1300 page book on Spiritual Warfare) is heavy of heart, for he sees his nation in Isaiah 1.

Read this portion soberly, for you will see your nation in the pages of scripture too, and not in a flatering way.

Part 2

The Vote

I rewrote William Gurnall’s message into modern day English, making it easier to understand.

Sit down, strap in, and don’t hold your breath. You’ll be amazed at his insights.

Part 2, Outlined. . .

Why We Vote

We Steward for God

We Speak for God

We Stand for God

Who Should Get Your Vote

FIRST. Look for the fear of God in those you choose.

SECOND. Look for wisdom and proper gifts.

THIRD. Enquire whether they are Christians.

FOURTH. Look for courage and resoluteness.

FIFTH. Find purposeful focus on the nation’s public affairs.

SIXTH. Choose those who have healing spirits.

SEVENTH. Look for a desire to serve.

FINALLY. Find those faithful to ministers and the ministry of the gospel.

After You Vote

(Don’t let those last two bother you, Gurnall is again, brilliant!)

FOOD: We will have plenty for you during our event, but if you have specific allergies, please let us know. which you can do in the “Registration Survey” below.

We want you stay nourished, and so for that reason, we as a group are not fasting during this event.

But, if you feel led by the Lord, please do so, and if you would let Mark know, privately, we will do our best to support you, without being a temptation.

Cost: After much prayer, I am convinced I need to leave the registration amount up to you (whether you attend or not). Certainly there are costs for the event location, musicians, food, etc. But I will tell you what I tell pastors when I speak in their churches, “Whatever you are comfortable with, I will be content with.” That rule has served me well for 15+ years. I think it’s perfect for the registration of this event. Your registration fee will be considered a donation, after we have determined all the costs for the event. Donate in the registration link below or in the “Registration Surve” which you will access below.

2 Registration Options. . .

Considering Attending: Unless it’s your anniversary weekend, that weekend, we hope EVERYONE will “consider” attending. Your “For Sure Yes or No” can come later. When you register below, you are AUTOMATICALLY added to a “Praying for the Event” group.

Unable to Attend, but Praying for the Event: We expect this event to be undergirded with lots of prayer. Expect a few emails, but VERY FEW.
