THIS IS NOT A POLITICAL POST
Godly Men I've Known Over the Years
Two Caveats:
1] This isn’t political, so don’t go there in your comments.
2] For these men’s privacy, I won’t use their real names, merely initials, okay?
Leonard Ravenhill always encouraged the men he mentored, to read biographies of great Christian men. One of my pray partners was mentored by the great prophet.
He told me once, “Leonard always said we were to read biographies, but only of men who were already dead.”
As I get older, I understand why. You have no idea if a man will finish well, or not.

Let Me Tell You About Some of the Men Who Have Influenced My Life:
Voices of Devotion
When he and his wife would pray for me, I knew God was sitting on the sofa with them, talking about my situation.
I always called him, “An old man who took care of old people.” At 90 years old he was still driving men and women to the doctor and grocery store, etc.
I actually know 2 men, both, incredibly successful pastors who gave up their churches because their wives had Alzheimer’s and they chose to serve their wives.
A youth pastor who taught me a valuable life lesson, “With every joke there is a little truth.” His words, 50+ years ago shaped the way I would talk.
An early coach of mine prompted me to “quit hanging around the cool guys, and run hard,” which I did, and found I had a knack for long distance running. Praise the Lord that was a long time ago.
This young preacher is so talented, he could get a job at any church, but he chose to stay where God called him, some 20 years ago. He is the kind of son all of us would be honored to have.
My dad wasn’t perfect, but he never gave up on me, even when I had made many, many bone headed decisions. He never turned his back on me, which I deserved.
Finally, an important prayer partner of mine, stayed with his wife in her failing health, nurtured her, and loved her, and still does, even as her address is heaven.
Worry not, my wife and I are both healthy. But please pray for me, as I serve the Lord, by serving my wife.
Bible Verses on Being a Man
Path to Devotion
Colossians 3:23 (NASB 1977)
Whatever you do, do your work heartily, as for the Lord rather than for men
Proverbs 27:17 (NASB 1977)
Iron sharpens iron, So one man sharpens another.
1 Corinthians 13:11 (NASB 1977)
When I was a child, I used to speak as a child, think as a child, reason as a child; when I became a man, I did away with childish things.
Joshua 1:9 (NASB 1977)
“Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous! Do not tremble or be dismayed, for the LORD your God is with you wherever you go.”
Psalms 37:23 (Amplified)
The steps of a [good and righteous] man are directed and established by the LORD, And He delights in his way [and blesses his path].
1 Peter 5:8-9 (HCSB)
Be serious! Be alert! Your adversary the Devil is prowling around like a roaring lion, looking for anyone he can devour. Resist him and be firm in the faith, knowing that the same sufferings are being experienced by your fellow believers throughout the world.
