the Precept (Principle)
1 Peter 1:17e
Pass the time of your sojourning here in fear.
the Promise (from God)
Psalm 33:18
The eye of the Lord is upon them that fear Him, upon them that hope in His mercy.
our Prayer (to God)
Psalm 39:4
Lord, make me to know mine end, and the measure of my days, what it is: that I may know how frail I am.
Take each Precept and Promise and Prayer and pray them back to the Lord as one prayer
FREE prayer helps are always available on our Prayer-Basics-Page
NOTE: The idea behind “fear” in the context of these verses is “awe” or “reverence.” Jesus, in the Lord’s prayer suggested something we often miss, namely, beginning our prayers in “awe” and “reverence.” In other words, begin your praying by “praising” the Lord, not pettitioning or thanking, but praising. To help you praise, go to the Fruit of the Spirit, “Lord, You are love. You are joy. You are peace. Etc.”
