Chance has been great! We tried to sell the home, “as is” so we could just get this behind us.
But, it didn’t work!
And yet, since it didn’t sell immediately, we were able to take 3 months to methodically go through 25 years worth of life together.
That was NICE!
So, a few weeks ago, Chance very gently reminded us of something he suggested at the beginning.
WHICH WE DID!
AND THE HOME SOLD IN 1 WEEK!

But, Something Wasn't Right
Now that I have been “Nice” to Chance, let me tell you WHAT HE DIDN’T TELL ME!

The flaws stand out!
Do you know how many finger prints you collect on a light switch you have used for 22 years?
Oh, Dios Mio!
The Short Version
So, I naively thought that when we get the house painted, it’d MAGICALLY be ready to sell.
Right, NO! That’s wrong!
Now that the house is a “Pristene White,” EVERYTHING THAT ISN’T WHITE STANDS OUT!
I kept a list of everything I had to do, “Now that the home was ready!”
Yeah, right!
Feel My Pain
Look at the cleaning I had to do now:
- Deep Clean the Stove Top & Kitchen Counters
- Clean the Office windows
- Not Just the INSIDE of the Windows, the OUSTIDE Too
- In Fact, Clean ALL the Windows
–Livingroom
–Bedroom - Wipe 22 Years of Dust off the Fans
- And 22 Years of Grime off the Blinds
- Vacuum, so my 19 Year Old Carpet . . . Nevermind
- Scrub Electrical Covers Plates
- Switch Some Cover Plates
- Scrub the Remaining Appliance Finishes
- And the Beuatiful Wood Dresser
- And the Matching Side Tables
- And Bed Posts
- Oh, and Don’t Forget the Tub
- AND THEN THE HARD STUFF!
- I had to NOT JUST SWEEP Floors
- I HAD TO SCRUB THEM!
Feeling My Pain?
- I Scrubbed the Floors:
–Cucina (the Kitchen)
–Soggiorno (the Living Room)
–Ufficio (the Office)
–Bagno (the Bathroom) - I Scrubbed the Fireplaces, Since they’re NEXT TO the Freshly Scrubbed Floors
- I Scrubbed So Many Door Handles I Got Lost
- Then You have to Scrub the Office Furniture
- And of Course, Clean and Scrub the Patio
- Use X14 to Bleach the Tile Grout, you know, the Tile Grout that is NEXT TO THE WHITE WALLS
- Wipe Down Closet Shelving
- Clean & Scrub the Dry Bar
My back hurts again, just thinking about all of it.
But the house is under contract, and there’s no arguing with that.
